Placing A Collie Into The Rescue Program

The first step in placing a Collie into our rescue program is to fill in the form found at the bottom of this page.  While we understand the form may be lengthy we require it be filled out in it's entirety since this is the information we use to ensure your Collie is placed into the foster home that will best match your Collie's temperament, medical needs or behavioural issues or any of the myriad of other things that make your Collie an individual.

Please understand the rescue is run entirely by volunteers.  If you are moving tomorrow and are just contacting us today, we will be unlikely to help you.  We need time to arrange an appropriate foster home and to find volunteers to help pick up your Collie.

Once your Collie is ready to come into the rescue program please have ready to come with him the food he is used to eating, his water and food dishes, his leash, collar and any associated identification tags as well as any toys or bedding he particularly likes.  We also ask that you please contact your veterinarian and request copies of all of his medical records to accompany him into rescue.

On the day your Collie is picked up, a volunteer will have a copy of the form you are about to fill in for you to sign and date.  The signed form gives legal custody of your Collie to Collie Rescue Network and allows us to do any vetting procedures that may need to be done while the Collie is in our care as well as allows us to legally place him into an adoptive home when the time comes.

Collie Rescue Network asks that an owner surrendering their Collie to the rescue program donate some amount to the rescue fund.  This donation helps off-set the costs of feeding and medical expenses incurred by the Collie while in the rescue program.  There is no set donation amount and any donation amount is appreciated.  Please note that Collie Rescue Network would never turn away a Collie if an owner is unable to make a donation.  All cheques should be make out to "Collie Rescue Network" and given to the volunteer who picks up your Collie.
