Max's Happy Tail

Success Story

Thank-You to Dan & Marie for fostering Max!
Max was found as a stray and taken to the local animal shelter.  Once there they knew they'd have to shave this poor boy and his coat came off literally in almost on huge piece it was so matted together!  After he was shaved they were horrified by what they saw.  Max was skeletal, to the point everyone was amazed this little collie was even alive.  The shelter called Collie Rescue Network and he was picked up and taken to his foster home.  Into the rescue vet he went to see what needed to be done to make him healthy again.  The vet rated him as a 1 on the 1-5 scale of malnutrition (1 being the lowest, just before death) and told us it would be a long, careful process to ensure Max was brought back up to a healthy weight without taxing his internal organs.

With lots of love, patience and good food, his foster parents slowly nursed Max back to health.  In the meantime they discovered what a sweet little guy Max truly was.  As he felt stronger, he was full of life and became more energetic and playful.  Max got along great with the other collies in the foster home, was good with the neighbourhood kids and even liked the cats in the home.  He was just an all-around great little collie who needed a very special home to call his very own.

Along came Yvonne and family who saw Max on the website and decided to make the long trip up to Ottawa to meet him.  They even brought Digger, their little terrier, to meet Max and everyone got along famously.  A few weeks later, once Max was deemed healthy by the rescue vet, Yvonne and family came back and picked up their new boy.

Max's new mom made him him very own coat for the winter since his own gorgeous collie coat had not grown back in yet and he looked cute as a button!  Max now has his own family, his own home and is a much loved member of Yvonne's family.
