Why sponsor a rescue collie? The collies in rescue with Collie Rescue Network are, more often than not, elderly. Many of them come to us in deplorable condition; coats matted with feces, overgrown nails, rotting teeth and gum infections that make eating even soft food painful, arthritic, underweight from neglect or overweight due to thyroid or other medical conditions. The list of "issues" a rescue collies enters the rescue program with is too often long, painful to watch and needs immediate attention by a veterinarian. Even the collies who come to us with no major health concerns will need to be microchipped and have a basic check-up done in order for us to offer a collie that is known to be healthy for adoption. Each collie that comes into rescue costs the rescue money. The average cost per collie, including medical bills, medications and the occasional grooming, is about $700.00. We ask for a $200.00 adoption donation when the collie finds his/her forever home, meaning we are out-of-pocket from the rescue fund about $500.00 per collie. Without sponsors we would not be able to continue to properly care for the collies that come to us in need of help. We currently do not turn away a collie in need due to medical issues or age. The old and the sick are the ones who need us the most and we need your help to continue to allow us to care for them.

How is my sponsorship money used? The sponsorship money we receive goes directly into our rescue fund for the collies in rescue. Collie Rescue Network is comprised of volunteers; the foster homes, the transport drivers, the fundraising people, the coordinators and the treasurer. Everyone involved with Collie Rescue Network donates their time and their resources for the betterment of the collies in our care. The rescue fund is used to pay for expenses incurred by the collies in rescue; vet bills, grooming bills, medications, etc. If you have decided to sponsor a specific collie, your donation will be used to pay specifically for that collie's care while in rescue with us. If you have opted to make a general sponsorship donation, the money you donate will be placed into the rescue fund and used for whichever collie is currently in the greatest need.
