How To Place Your Collie Into Our Rescue Program

The first step in placing your collie into our rescue program is to fill in the form found at the bottom of this page.  While we understand that the form is lengthy and asks many questions, we require that it be filled out in its entirety since this is the information we use to place your collie into the best possible foster home that will meet his/her needs.  It also gives us a better idea about what kind of adoptive home we should be searching for that will best match the temperament, medical needs, behavioural issues and other things that make your collie an individual.

Please understand that our rescue is run by volunteers.  If you are moving this afternoon and have contacted us this morning, we will be unable to help you.  We need time to find a volunteer to pick up your collie as well as time to arrange an appropriate foster home.

Once your collie is ready to come into the rescue program please have ready to come with him the food he is used to eating, his water and food dishes, his leash, collar and any tags you have for him as well as any toys he may especially like and any bedding he uses.  We also ask that you visit your vet and request copies of all your collie's medical records to send along with him to rescue.  On the day your collie is picked up the volunteer will have a release form for you to sign.  This form gives legal custody of your collie to Collie Rescue Network and allows us to do any vetting procedures that may need to be done while the collie is in our care, as well as allows us to legally place him into his adoptive home when the time comes.

Collie Rescue Network asks that owners surrendering a collie to Collie Rescue Network donate some amount to the rescue fund.  This donation helps off-set the costs of feeding and medical expenses incurred by the collie while in the care of the rescue.  There is no set donation amount and any donation is appreciated.  Please note that Collie Rescue Network would never turn away a collie if an owner is financially unable to make a surrender donation.  All cheques should be made out to "Collie Rescue Network" and given to the volunteer who picks up your collie.
